Feng Shui is an old Chinese practice that furniture and items are arranged in a certain way to increase the flow of positive energy throughout a house. In the game, the player would experience better luck if he placed something red in the eastern part of the room, or something green in the south.. Red=Rare Yellow=Luck with Money This supposedly brings good health and fortune to the members of the household. In the SER, the guidelines to Feng Shui are fairly easy and will help the player find rarer items, catch rarer fish, obtain more items, etc. Furniture must have certain properties to contribute Feng Shui, and they must be arranged properly. There are a few lucky items that contribute Feng Shui without requiring specific placement, but for the most part, location is key. A player can attain a total of 184 points (63+3+118=184, where 63 is the amount of points attainable by placing special lucky items in Feng Shui squares [21*3], where 3 is the amount of points attainable by placing lucky items in the middle of the room, and where 118 is the highest possible value of the remaining squares after placing special lucky items [(80-21)*2]).

There are two ways to affect Feng Shui: By placing items of certain colors in their correct areas of the room, and by placing 'lucky' items anywhere in the room.
Objects
Every object has two colors associated with them (the major colors in how they look). For items that have only one major color, the "two" colors are the same (see examples). However, the only colors that contribute to Feng Shui are red, green, and yellow

Color
+
Every object has two colors which are associated with it. These can be red, orange, yellow, green, blue, pink, colorful, black, white or gray. For Feng Shui, we are only interested in red, yellow and green. If an item has only one main color, then it will be labelled with that colour twice. For example, the red armchair is all red. Its colors are 'red/red' or 'red(x2)'.
*Red Armchair: This is pretty much all red. Its two colors are Red/Red.
+
The key to Feng Shui is matching the color of the items to their appropriate squares in the room. The two rows of squares closest to the west wall are yellow. The two closest to the southern wall are green. Finally, those two which are closest to the east wall are red. In the corners where they overlap, the squares have both colors. As you pay off your mortgage and the room expands, you'll find you have non-Feng Shui tiles in the middle. Diagrams showing the arrangement of colors in the room can be seen below.
*Mushroom Table: This is red and white. Its two colors are Red/White. White does not contribute to Feng Shui, so for our discussion here, the mushroom table is simply Red.

*Watermelon Table: This has a green skin and red flesh. Its two colors are Red/Green (order doesn't matter).

Position
+
Examples:
First, the only tiles in the room that have an impact on Feng Shui are the two tiles closest to the right, bottom, and left walls. For the first room you have, that covers the whole room. However, once you upgrade, you'll notice that you have non-Feng Shui tiles in the center and top parts of the room.
+
*Red Armchair: red/red: This would be best placed on an all red square, since its colors are both red, to acquire twice as much good Feng Shui.
+
*Mush Table: red: This table has only one Feng Shui colour and would be best placed on any square with red.
+
*Watermelon Table: red/green: This would be best placed on a red/green square to gain twice as much good Feng Shui.

Each tile that has Feng Shui has two colors associated with it. The left wall's tiles are Yellow/Yellow, the bottom wall's tiles are Green/Green, and the right wall's tiles are Red/Red. In the corners where they overlap, the tiles have one of each color. See the diagrams below to see how this works.

Yellow
The key is to match the item's colors to the tile's colors as best as possible. If an item has only one color, it will only match once; if an item has two colors, then you want to place it so that it matches twice. Let's use the items we described above.

Good red and green Feng Shui will bring luck with items. One may find an increased number of items from outside their furniture group in Tom Nook's store.

*Red Armchair: Red/Red. This is best placed on the right side, at least three tiles from the bottom, so that it sits in a Red/Red tile. Since two colors match, it gets two Feng Shui points. If you were to place it in a Red/Green tile, only one color would match, and it would get only one feng shui point.

*Mushroom Table: Red. This only has one color. It can be placed in any tile that has red in it, and will always only get one Feng Shui point, even if the tile is Red/Red (since it has only one color match).

*Watermelon Table: Red/Green. This is best placed in the bottom right color, where the tiles are also Red/Green. Since two colors match, it gets two Feng Shui points. If you place it in either a Green/Green, Red/Red, or Yellow/Green tile, it would get only one Feng Shui point.

Note: Tables and items on them that are in a Feng Shui tile both count for points. Getting good tables is part of the strategy.

Lucky items
Some items are considered lucky and add 7,777 points for being anywhere in the room. A few items, such as the Lucky Gold Cat, both have Feng Shui colors and are also lucky. The Lucky Gold Cat is Yellow/Yellow, so if you place it in a Yellow/Yellow tile, it will count for three points.

The list of lucky items are as follows:

Feng Shui (Pronounced ˌfʌŋˈʃweɪ, "fung-shway") is an old Chinese practice in which furniture and items are arranged in a certain way to increase the flow of positive energy throughout a house. In the Animal Crossing series, the arrangement of items according to its own Feng Shui principles is reported to bring luck with money and items. Feng Shui is only applicable to the first room of your house.

Principles of Feng Shui

There are two ways to affect Feng Shui: By placing items of certain colors in their correct areas of the room, and by placing 'lucky' items anywhere in the room.

Color

Every object has two colors which are associated with it. These can be red, orange, yellow, green, blue, pink, colorful, black, white or gray. For Feng Shui, we are only interested in red, yellow and green. If an item has only one main color, then it will be labelled with that colour twice. For example, the red armchair is all red. Its colors are 'red/red' or 'red(x2)'.

Examples:

 • Red Armchair: red/red: This would be best placed on an all red square, since its colors are both red, to acquire twice as much good Feng Shui.
 • Mush Table: red: This table has only one Feng Shui colour and would be best placed on any square with red.
 • Watermelon Table: red/green: This would be best placed on a red/green square to gain twice as much good Feng Shui.
