Official name?

Is this subject actually called "aurora borealis" or is that conjecture? If it's the latter, does this subject have an official name in any game or other official media? ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 19:28, September 7, 2020 (EDT)

Commenting on this: from all the screenshots I've had from New Leaf I couldn't find any mention of "aurora" being said by my villagers. Aurora borealis works, although unless if a more official name can be found, I'd argue moving this to "Aurora (phenomenon)" since Aurora borealis is a Northern hemisphere-centric name. I couldn't find any mention of it in the City Folk guide unless I missed it. It's mentioned on Pg. 126 of the New Leaf guide (printed), as a note: "Though it isn't heralded on the bulletin board, check the night sky during the winter months to potentially view the northern lights!" I'm with Decomposer though and say we move to Aurora (phenomenon) unless there's evidence of villagers mentioning it by name in New Horizons. Support Support - thanks to the people over in the ACNH Spreadsheet Discord server, we now have evidence of an official name in New Horizons:
"Did ya see the aurora?! It was nutty! It was like somebody hung a curtain made of rainbows..."
"I've been thinking... Aren't auroras basically night rainbows?"
This means the official name is "aurora", which works out very well since we were planning on moving it there anyway! I think we should put "also known as the northern lights" with a reference to the New Leaf guide since it's still an official name. ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 12:25, September 8, 2020 (EDT)
