The Free Summer Update (Wave 1) (version 1.3.0), known in Australia as the Free Update,[1] was an update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons released on July 3, 2020. This update marked the return of sea creatures and the swimming mechanic, and added a new NPC known as Gullivarrr. It was announced on June 25, 2020.[2]

  • Leif, Saharah, and Kicks are no longer guaranteed to show up every week. Instead, any special visitor can appear on any weekday.
  • Saharah has received changes to her shopping dialog, allowing the player to continue the conversation after buying an item.
  • Corrected the names of several fish in Korean and Simplified Chinese.
  • The names of the following items were changed:

Bug fixes

In 1.3.1

  • Addressed issue where players could not properly use a Zen Bridge or Red Zen Bridge placed on top of a cliff (third tier).
  • Addressed issue where a Wet Suit would not be available for sale within Nook's Cranny.
  • Addressed issue where Hermit Crabs would appear in places other than the beach.
  • Addressed issue where a dialogue bubble would improperly appear after speaking with a villager.
