Animal Crossing: Mobile (formal title pending) is mobile application based on the Animal Crossing series set to be released in Europe[1], North America, and Japan in Fall 2015. The game was announced on April 27th, 2016 as part of Nintendo's earnings report for its full fiscal year ending March 31st, 2016. The app is part of Nintendo's initiative to bring five mobile applications to market by March of 2017[2], and was announced alongside a Fire Emblem mobile application[3] to be released in the same Fall 2016 time frame.

The title was described in the earnings report as a "pure game application" that will "have more prominent game elements"[4] than Miitomo, Nintendo's first smartphone application that launched in March of 2016. The report also noted that the application would be designed to "be connected with the world of Animal Crossing for dedicated gaming systems"[4], suggesting that the application will offer some sort sort of cross-title connectivity with existing or yet to be released Animal Crossing titles. More details are set to be revealed closer to app's the launch period.
