Beau (ペーター, Pētā, Peter) is a deer villager in the Animal Crossing series. He first appeared in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. A "beau" is a male romantic interest, male admirer, or a fashionable young man. It originates as a French term; "beau" is the masculine version of "beautiful". His initial phrase refers to a salt block, an item that hunters and people use to attract antelopes. Beau is very similar to an antelope, a deer-like creature common in many parts of Africa and Eurasia.
Appearance
Beau's appearance is very similar and possibly resembles either an impala or kob's, two species of antelopes. He has a bright orange coat and sports black-tipped ears and hooves. He has striped antlers, white circles around his eyes, peach eyelids and a white snout. He initially wears a deer shirt when first appearing in the player's town.

As a lazy villager, Beau is easy to befriend due to the laid-back lifestyle he lives. Beau is down-to-earth, carefree and is somewhat of a glutton. Like all lazy villagers, he shares a love for food, relaxation and sleeping. He usually gets along with normal and peppy villagers, and he offends jock villagers easily, though he doesn't notice it right away. Uchi villagers, on the other hand, remark about how 'cute' he is, while snooty and cranky villagers tend to gossip about him.
House
Beau has a very outdoorsy home that resembles what the player could see in either a park or beach. He has Mountain Song playing on a tape deck, a tree standee in the middle of his home, two mountain standees in front of his wall, a hammock, bird cage, picnic table and a dog house to finish up his home.
