Bob (ニコバン, Nikoban) is a lazy villager who has appeared in every game of the Animal Crossing series. His name is probably a reference to bobcats. His Japanese name comes from the Japanese idiom neko ni koban, "gold coins for cats". His initial phrase, "pthhpth," may be a reference to the sound a cat makes when coughing up a hairball.

Appearance

Bob is a purple cat with darker purple polka dots, half-closed lazy yellow eyes, light purple paws, and a striped tail. He wears the Blossom Shirt, which clashes with his deep-purple fur. The inside of his ears are pink, and his tail is purple with dark purple stripes.

As a lazy villager, Bob will be easy to get along with due to his laid-back lifestyle. Like all lazy villagers, he shares a love of food and relaxing, and will often bring it up in conversations with the player. In Animal Crossing: Wild World, he will mention his dream of diving in a pool of food. He will enjoy partaking in the usual hobbies, usually for relaxing reasons or for food, when fishing. He will get along well with other villagers, but may offend or confuse jock villagers, who have a conflicting lifestyle of exercise and fitness, compared to the lazy lifestyle of relaxing and food.
