Bugs are collectable items in the Animal Crossing series. Players can catch them with a net. They can be donated to the museum (much to the dismay of Blathers), sold, or placed in the player's home like a piece of furniture. Most of them are worth a lot less than most fish when sold. A large amount of bugs will only emerge during the summer, and there are almost none during the winter. The bugs that sell the best are the Horned Hercules and Golden Stag, they sell for 12,000 bells each in Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

There are 56 bugs in Animal Crossing: Wild World and 64 in Animal Crossing: City Folk. In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, the number of bugs increased to 72.
