Bunny Day is a major Spring event which is the Animal Crossing series equivalent of Easter Sunday. It was first introduced in Animal Crossing: City Folk. It has a different date per year, but always falls on a Sunday. Zipper T. Bunny hosts the event outside the Town Hall. It is the only time of year players are able to obtain the Egg Series of furniture. Saving extra candy that is found on Bunny Day will greatly help the player's chances of receiving more items during the next Halloween and Festivale.

In certain years (such as in 2018), Bunny Day and April Fool's Day will take place on the same day. In New Leaf both events will be held, with both Zipper T. and Blanca visiting the player's town.

City Folk

Keeping to the idea of Easter, the Bunny Day event revolves around an Easter Egg Hunting competition. Thirty Easter eggs are hidden around the town, which can be opened to reveal either Candy (18) or a Bunny Token (12). Zipper will exchange one Bunny foil per item of furniture from the Egg Series. The villagers around town will not get involved in the events, but will talk about Zipper and finding mysterious eggs buried around the town. Each character gets his or her own set of eggs.

New Leaf

In New Leaf, Zipper will ask players to find eggs of all kinds. There are 6 kinds of eggs.

  • Tree Egg: Can be found by shaking trees.
  • Earth Egg: Can be found by digging them up from the ground. They appear as cracks, like fossils.
  • Stone Egg: Can be found by breaking open rocks.
  • Sky Egg: Can be found hanging on balloons floating around.
  • Water Egg: Can be found by fishing.
  • Deep-Sea Egg: Can be found by diving.

If a player brings all 6 eggs to him, the player will obtain an egg basket. Players will no longer be able to give Zipper eggs. The player has to eat the eggs to get either candy, a prize ticket, or a grand prize ticket. He will accept prize tickets in return for items of the Egg Series. If any players get the grand prize ticket, they can exchange the grand prize ticket in return for a pic of Zipper. Prize tickets and grand prize tickets cannot be sold; however, candy can be sold for 100 Bells each.

Some people have recorded that if all rocks which contain stone eggs are not all destroyed by the end of the day, then the rocks will turn into regular unbreakable rocks, however, this is uncommon. Solutions, such as time-travelling to the day after the event, opening the game, and exiting without saving, have been mentioned.

New Horizons

The Bunny Day balloon which drops Sky Eggs in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Starting April 1, 2020 the first Easter event takes place until Bunny Day occurs on April 12. 6 types of eggs can be found around town and on Mystery Island Tours, and are needed to craft recipes from the Bunny Day series of furniture and clothing:

  • Earth Egg - found as items buried in the ground, marked with a star
  • Leaf Egg - found growing on cherry blossom trees and can be shaken off
  • Sky Egg - dropped by Easter-themed balloons when hit with a slingshot or net
  • Stone Egg - have a chance to be dispensed when hitting a rock with a shovel
  • Water Egg - can found by fishing medium-sized shadows in rivers, ponds, and the ocean
  • Wood Egg - have a chance to be dispensed from trees when chopping them with an axe — palm trees are more likely to drop eggs than other types of trees

Zipper requests the player to construct all furniture items from the Bunny Day series, and will give the player the recipe for the Bunny Day Bed. The other recipes for these items have been hidden around the island, with more being found as the date gets closer to Bunny Day. Recipes can be found as presents from unique Easter-themed balloons in the sky and in Easter-themed message bottles along the beach, given to the player by villagers, or simply learned once a certain amount of a specific type of egg has been found. If the player has constructed all items in time for Bunny Day, Zipper will gift the player a special item. In total, there are 18 furniture recipes and 23 clothing recipes to collect.

During the event, villagers will mostly talk about their excitement for Bunny Day over other topics. They will also give hints such as that hitting rocks on Mystery Islands will dispense eggs at a higher rate than the rocks in town or palms tend to give out more eggs than regular trees.
