The Nintendo Independent Wiki Alliance, commonly abbreviated as NIWA, is a collaboration of a network of independent Nintendo-oriented wikis. The alliance was started in early 2010, and has since grown to contain 26 wikis as of May 9, 2021.

History

The Nintendo Independent Wiki Alliance was started when Zelda Wiki, a wiki covering The Legend of Zelda series, sought affiliation with Bulbapedia, a wiki covering Pokémon, in January 2010. A suggestion was made soon after to create a network of independent Nintendo-oriented wikis. This suggestion was agreed upon and soon after, Super Mario Wiki, a wiki containing information about the Mario series, was contacted to join the network with Zelda Wiki and Bulbapedia.
