Nookipedia is an online wiki encyclopedia for the Animal Crossing series. Featuring 12,451 articles, Nookipedia is the largest independent Animal Crossing wiki on the World Wide Web. It is a member of the Nintendo Independent Wiki Alliance, a collaboration of independent Nintendo-oriented wikis.

Nookipedia was originally two separate wikis. Animal Crossing City, which was a Wikia hosted wiki, decided to merge with the independent Animal Crossing Wiki. On November 19, 2010, it joined the Nintendo Independent Wiki Alliance. On December 31, 2010, Animal Crossing Wiki was renamed to Nookipedia. Since then Nookipedia has been growing and expanding preparing for the next Animal Crossing game.

The logo of Animal Crossing Wiki

On July 12, 2010, Animal Crossing Wiki was setup. It was originally run by a user on the (now defunct) It affiliated with NIWA and received quite a few edits before a database problem without any backup caused it to close. It then re-opened on October 23rd 2010, separate from the original site. Later that year, it merged with the ex-Wikia Animal Crossing City. Animal Crossing Wiki joined NIWA shortly after on November 19, 2010.

Animal Crossing City

Founded in August 2005, Animal Crossing City was created on Wikia. Shortly after its fifth anniversary, Wikia made a new skin, 'Oasis', mandatory. Many wikis left Wikia, including Animal Crossing City. Originally going to move to ShoutWiki, which did happen for a short while, Animal Crossing City later decided to merge with Animal Crossing Wiki to form the wiki we have today.

Nookipedia name change

At the end of 2010, the staff agreed on a name change to Nookipedia (from Animal Crossing Wiki), to give the wiki a distinct and memorable name, as well as a new site skin. This update was completed in time for new year and launched to the public on January 1, 2011.
