Del (ヤマト, Yamato) is a cranky alligator villager in the Animal Crossing series. Del first appeared in Doubutsu no Mori e+, and again in Animal Crossing: City Folk and Animal Crossing: New Leaf. His name could possibly be a reference to crocodiles. His Japanese name refers to the Yamato people, or more likely the battleship Yamato.
Appearance
He is a dark blue alligator with the bottom portion of his jaws and abdomen a rich red. He also has black spots surrounding his red jawline (his nostrils), and half open eyes, given him a tired or angry look. He also has some rectangular black holes on the side of his head.
Personality
Below is a brief description of the cranky personality. For more information, click here.
As a cranky villager, Del will appear mature compared to other male personality types. This will make him come off as rude and belittling when talking to other villagers, including the player. Despite this, he will learn to confide in the player, considering them his only friend. He will enjoy the usual hobbies; not for competition, but for relaxing and peaceful reasons of calm and tranquility away from other villagers. He will find it difficult to socialize with peppy villagers, who he will appear rude behind their backs about. He will get along with normal and snooty villagers, as well as other cranky villagers, who he will share deeper conversations with. He will, on occasion, annoy a normal villager, usually when being mean about something or someone. When he is sick, he insults the illness.
House
Del's house contains some pirate furniture. He has a globe and surprisingly, a robo-dresser. He also has an inner tube and an amazing machine, but he lacks any gyroids. If he owns a stereo, it will play "K.K. March."
