In Animal Crossing: City Folk, players can sometimes find an item that resembles a lamp in their town. This item is called Empty Lamp and looks as though it would house a genie. If the player ventures into the southern area of their town after 8:00pm (following the shoreline seems to work), a dialogue box will appear from someone named Wisp. Wisp will ask the player to come closer. When the player moves closer to Wisp, he appears in his true form. He will explain that he has lost his lamp, that the lamp is usually where he lives, and will ask the player to find it for him because he is too afraid of open spaces to find it himself.
