Explorer's Day is an event in the Animal Crossing series that occurs on the second Monday of October. It appears in international versions of Animal Crossing and the North American versions of Animal Crossing: City Folk and Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

Explorers Day is based on Columbus Day, a holiday commemorating the landing of explorer Christopher Columbus in the New World on October 14, 1492.

Appearances

In Animal Crossing

On Explorer's Day, Tortimer can be found outside of the Town Hall. If the player speaks to him, they will receive a Bottled Ship.

In City Folk

In North American towns in Animal Crossing: City Folk, Tortimer appears outside Town Hall and will give the player a Sailboat Model if spoken to. After the discontinuation of the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection in 2014, the Sailboat Model can only be obtained in the North American version of the game.

In New Leaf
