In WW, the fireworks for Independence Day were removed, and a new event which happens every Saturday in August at 7:00 PM takes its place called the Fireworks Show. During the Fireworks Show, Tortimer will be outside the Town Hall. The player can talk to him to receive either a Sparkler or a Roman Candle. Tortimer will usually only allow the player to receive two of each item a night, but if they pester him long enough, he might give out more. Both Sparklers and Roman Candles are equippable items. Once equipped, the player can use one of these items. Both objects shoot out sparks. Tortimer may also give the player a fortune for the night, which appears in a mail slot in their inventory. Fireworks also appear during the New Year's Eve celebrations.

Isabelle will host the festivities in the Event Plaza, handing out one of the four bopper items (Bulb, Flower, Heart, or Star) and allowing the player to submit a custom design to be used as a firework design during the show. Redd will also open a Cookie Stand in the plaza, where he will sell Redd's Cookies for 500 Bells. These can be eaten, and can contain either a prize ticket (which can be redeemed for an exclusive item) or a Dud Ticket (which are only rewarded with a Sparkler or Roman Candle). Fountain Fireworks are also a new addition to the Fireworks Show. The player can now also submit custom designs before the show that will be used as firework shapes. In addition, villagers will clap as they watch fireworks in the sky.

While initially absent from NH, Fireworks Shows are set to be added in the 1.4.0 Free Summer Update Wave 2. The events have a similar appearance to prior games, taking place each Sunday in August, with new additions including Redd now operating Redd's Raffle in the event plaza and players being able to design custom fireworks.

Isabelle will stand outside of Resident Services all day, and players can submit custom designs to be used as fireworks. Up to 10 designs can be submitted, and they will be launched in a specific order that can be configured by the player. Because Isabelle is outside all day, the Civic Consultation Counter at Resident Services is not accessible on the day of a Fireworks Show.

In Animal Crossing and Doubutsu no Mori e+, the Fireworks Festival is held at the town's lake on July 4, coinciding with Independence Day in the United States. Villagers gather around the lake, and the fireworks can be seen reflected in the water throughout town. In the original Japanese release of Animal Crossing, Fireworks Festivals are instead held each Saturday in August.

During a Fireworks Festival, Tortimer can be found roaming in a random acre and will give the player a decorative Bottle Rocket if he is spoken to; in the original Japanese release, he instead gives the player a Three-Foot Ball. Redd will set up a stall by the lake selling handheld items for 480 Bells. He can sell either balloons, pinwheels, or fans, and which one he sells changes each Fireworks Festival.

Trivia

 • In a gameplay video for Animal Crossing shown at E3 2002, a Fireworks Festival is shown taking place on a Saturday in August like in the Japanese version, rather than on July 4 like in the final international release.[1]
 • Some of the prizes Redd gives in exchange for prize tickets in New Leaf such as the Ultra Hand are products that Nintendo made before it went into the video game industry.
