Gruff is a cranky, goat villager in the Animal Crossing series. His name comes from the Norwegian fairytale, The Three Billy Goats Gruff, while his Japanese name is simply from "billy goat," which is shared with Billy, another goat villager. His picture quote, "Don't burn bridges," means to not leave your past behind; to "burn your bridges" means to set up your past in a way that you can never return to it.
Characteristics
Appearance
Gruff is a goat with green fur and brown hair shaped like a widow's peak. His eyes are blue with eyelashes and are almost always half closed, which give him the appearance of a smug villager. He has white horns and a black nose. He also has a brown beard. His tail is also brown. The inside of his ears is a pale pink.

Gruff has a cranky personality, meaning that he will appear rude and mean to the player at first. If the player befriends him he will be nicer to him/her, but he still will be slightly rude. He will admire lazy villagers' laid-back personality and will get along with snooty villagers due to their similarly rude personalities. He may find it hard to talk to peppy villagers due to their hyper personality.
