The iQue Player also known as the Shén Yóu Ji in China, is a console system based on the Nintendo 64. The console itself is shaped like a controller and it's meant to be used that way. It connects directly to a TV via some cables on the back of the console. An accessory that allowed multiplayer functions was available in the box.
Compared to the original Nintendo 64, the whole system is stored on a single chip (SOC), and it's menu is more reminiscent of the Wii, sharing some similarities with its online connectivity system and the store for buying apps and games.
Due to its improved hardware, the iQue tends to be faster than a retail Nintendo 64 and the time-frame between the release of both consoles has also led to the iQue having a big library of re-released games (like Dòngwù Sēnlín) that have been bug-fixed or had extra content added to them.
The iQue Player and all its online functions were discontinued on October 31, 2016.
