Insurance can be obtained from Lyle in Animal Crossing: Wild World, who visits the players town every Saturday. Insurance can protect the player from bee stings, forged paintings, and tripping; however, it is basically a scam. Forged paintings will get the player 100 Bells from Lyle, while Tom Nook will pay 10 Bells. The backdraw of this method is that the player will have to wait until Lyle next comes around. This can be between one to five days, depending on when Redd comes to town. Bee stings are also only 100 Bells compensation.
It costs 3,000 Bells and it is hard to make back the money lost by buying the insurance. However, the player could make enough money to cover what was lost after 30 bee stings, or by buying the King Tut helmet. By wearing the King Tut wig, the player will trip if they are running. Therefore, if the player trips 30 times, they will receive the equivalent amount of Bells used to pay for the insurance.
Insurance only appears in Wild World. It does not appear in Animal Crossing: City Folk, since Lyle is now working for the Happy Room Academy.
