The cardboard box is a miscellaneous furniture item in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It is part of the Cardboard Series. As a miscellaneous item, it can be placed on either the ground or on the surfaces of tables and other similar furniture items that have surfaces for items. The item's top surface can be used to place smaller items, such as other miscellaneous furniture.

The cardboard box can be obtained from either Timmy at the Resident Services Tent before building Nook's Cranny, or from Nook's Cranny once it has been opened for  120 Bells. The item's variation can be customized by Cyrus at Harv's Island for  1,000 Bells. It also has a chance of randomly appearing in the Resident Services recycle box each day.

This item appears as a furniture item in the homes of Audie, Barold, Benjamin, Big Top, Billy, Bones, Buck, Cheri, Chief, Claude, Cleo, Cobb, Curt, Dobie, Eugene, Freckles, Gala, Hornsby, Hugh, Jacob, Katt, Keaton, Kevin, Kid Cat, Leonardo, Stinky, Stu, Tabby, Tangy, Wart Jr., and Zucker. As a result, this item has a chance to be purchasable by the player if they were invited by any of the preceding villagers.

In Happy Home Paradise, this item is available for use in designing after completing six vacation homes and the school facility. Antonio, Apple, Blaire, Boris, Cheri, Chief, Chow, Cobb, Cyrano, Deena, Elmer, Gaston, Graham, Harry, Hazel, Hugh, Kid Cat, Monty, Murphy, Nate, Pashmina, Pippy, Punchy, Rasher, Rizzo, Rocco, Rosie, Shep, Simon, Sprocket, Sydney, Tasha, and Teddy feature this item in their order list when designing their vacation home. The item is also featured in the order list of the apparel shop.

In the designing process of Happy Home Paradise, Blaire, Nate, Rosie, and Teddy require this item to be placed in or outside their vacation home. This item is also required as one of the tables for the dining hall at the café, as one of the tables for the dining hall at the restaurant, and as one of the desks for the classroom at the school.

After unlocking this item in Happy Home Paradise, the item can be purchased from Wardell's catalog for  110 Poki.
