The empty can is a crafting material in Animal Crossing: New Horizons and is considered one of the various trash items alongside the Boot, Old Tire, Spoiled Turnips, Used Fountain Firework, and any lost items. As a trash item, it is penalized by the Happy Home Academy if inside a house.

The empty can can be obtained by fishing a small fish shadow. It sells for  10 Bells when sold to Nook's Cranny.

In Happy Home Paradise, this item is unlocked for use in designing when doing a vacation home request for Ace, Bonbon, Harry, Rocco, and Shep.
