— Event description prior to version 1.6.0

The midwinter sweater (known as the winter-solstice sweater prior to version 1.6.0) is a top item in Animal Crossing: New Horizons introduced in the 1.2.0 April Free Update. The item can be worn by either the player or any villagers.

The midwinter sweater can be obtained from Nook Shopping for  1,200 Bells from December 15 to December 22 in the northern hemisphere[nb 1] and June 15 to June 21 in the southern hemisphere[nb 2][nb 3] during the Winter Solstice Nook Shopping seasonal event. This item can only be ordered from the catalog while its seasonal event is ongoing.

No villagers wear this item as their default outfit.

In Happy Home Paradise, no villagers or facility unlock this item for designing and changing the clothing of a villager and the player. It can only be used once the player's catalog is unlocked after completing the 27th vacation home.
