The osechi is a miscellaneous furniture item in Animal Crossing: New Horizons introduced in the 2.0 Free Update. As a miscellaneous item, it can be placed on either the ground or on the surfaces of tables and other similar furniture items that have surfaces for items.

The osechi can be obtained from Nook Shopping for 1,700 Bells from December 22 to January 5 during the Shōgatsu Nook Shopping seasonal event. The item's box color can be customized by Cyrus at Harv's Island for 1,700 Bells. This item can only be ordered from the catalog while its seasonal event is ongoing.

In Happy Home Paradise, no villagers or facility unlock this item for designing. It can only be used once the player's catalog is unlocked after completing the 27th vacation home.

In Japan, osechi-ryōri (御節料理/お節料理, osechi-ryōri^?) or simply known as osechi (おせち, osechi^?) are a traditional Japanese food served during Shōgatsu (or the Japanese New Year). The name originated from o-sechi, meaning season or period. osechi is served in jūbako, or tiered boxes, with different dishes present in each one. Common dishes include daidai, datemaki, ebi, and a grilled lobster. osechi was originally developed during the Heian period of Japan, when it was taboo to cook meals using a hearth except for zōni during the first three days of the New Year. osechi would be cooked before the New Year and then eaten over those three days of no cooking.
