The tanuki figurine (たぬきのおきもの, tanuki no okimono^?) is a furniture item in Doubutsu no Mori, Doubutsu no Mori+, and Doubutsu no Mori e+. It is replaced by the left stone lion statue in Dòngwù Sēnlín.

The tanuki figurine can be obtained from Crazy Redd's Furniture Emporium for 2,000 Bells, Wisp, a treasure hunt, or trees when the player has good luck. For the purpose of fêng shui, its color is special. This item is lucky, meaning it gives a 777-point Happy Room Academy bonus when placed in the player's house.

In Animal Crossing, the tanuki figurine is still leftover in the game data as a dummy item, unobtainable without gameplay modification or glitches. It has the unused name "racoon obje" and uses the dummy model, a white triangle with red Japanese text reading ダミー (damī, dummy). Its name was also translated to other languages in the European version of Animal Crossing, with the name "objeto mapache" in Spanish, "raton laveur" in French, "Waschbär" in German, and "procione" in Italian.

In Japanese folktale, bake-danuki (化け狸, bake-danuki^?) are a yōkai, or Japanese supernatural beings, associated with the Japanese raccoon dog, or tanuki. They're known for having the ability to shapeshift in order to fool people. Despite being coined "raccoon dogs", tanukis are not related to raccoons, but are often mistranslated as such in English translations of Japanese medias, including the Animal Crossing series.
