Revision as of 11:02, July 1, 2020
The following is a complete list of villagers who appear at some point throughout the Animal Crossing series. As of March 2024 there are a grand total of 480 villagers, 35 species and 8 personalities spanning nine games, six consoles, and mobile devices. 104 villagers have appeared in all mainline games, but only 57 villagers have appeared in every Animal Crossing series game including spin-offs.
Doubutsu no Mori features 216 villagers in total (104 have appeared in all mainline games since). The GameCube port Animal Crossing introduces 2 new villagers and 18 islanders (6 of these 20 new villagers having appeared in all mainline games since), bringing the total to 236. Doubutsu no Mori e+ introduces 66 additional villagers (6 of which were only available via promotional-only e-Reader cards) and 18 additional islanders (21 of these 84 new villagers having appeared in all mainline games since), bringing the total to 320.
Wild World features 150 villagers in total, the fewest of any game in the series (6 of which were distributed at Nintendo DS Download Stations and are no longer legitimately obtainable). The game introduces 18 new villagers (17 have appeared in all mainline games since) as well as one new animal species (Monkey, the 6 members of which were also the 6 distribution-only villagers), but excludes 188 villagers from previous games.
City Folk features 210 villagers in total. It introduces 18 new villagers (all have appeared in all mainline games since) and sees the return of 42 of the villagers absent from the previous game.
New Leaf features 333 villagers in total. The game introduces 100 new villagers (all have appeared in all mainline games since), two new animal species (Deer and Hamster), two new personalities (smug and sisterly), and sees the return of 24 previously absent villagers and the exclusion of 1 villager (Champ).
Happy Home Designer, a spin-off title, features 339 villagers in total, based on the initial New Leaf roster. It introduces 2 new villagers and sees the return of 4 previous villagers (5 of which were distributed as Downloadable Content and are no longer legitimately obtainable). 20 villagers from Animal Crossing and Doubutsu no Mori e+ exist in the game's files but do not actually appear in the game. They were ultimately added to New Leaf with the Welcome amiibo update, which was released after Happy Home Designer.
amiibo Festival, another spin-off title, features all of the same villagers as New Leaf, except for those introduced with the Welcome amiibo update.
The Welcome amiibo update for New Leaf features 399 villagers in total. It introduces 60 additional villagers: 14 new, and 46 returning. Additionally, all 6 villagers exclusive to Happy Home Designer return in this update. 2 villagers, Filly and Holden, were distributed as Japan-exclusive visitors to town and are no longer obtainable. These two characters are not able to live in a player's town however, making for a total of 64 possible new residents to the player's town.
Pocket Camp features 206 villagers in total as of v3.2.0. 40 were available in the initial release of the game, with 166 being introduced in updates.
New Horizons features 391 villagers in total (179 from Doubutsu no Mori, 14 from Animal Crossing, 55 from Doubutsu no Mori e+, 17 from Wild World, 18 from City Folk, 100 from New Leaf and 8 new ones). It introduces 8 new villagers, one for each personality, with all 333 villagers from New Leaf returning as well as the 50 villagers from Welcome amiibo card series[1]. The 8 villagers introduced in this game were later added to Pocket Camp in v3.1.2b.
