Louie is a jock gorilla villager in the Animal Crossing series. His localized name in several languages, along with him originally wearing the Lil Bro's shirt before returning back in Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, seems be a reference to Nintendo's character Luigi, from the Super Mario series and Mario's younger brother, in a similar fashion to Alfonso, whose design refers to the famous titular plumber. His initial phrase, "toots" may refer to when a gorilla releases a series of flatulence bursts, which is changed Yodel's catchphrase, "odelay." In Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, Louie was released as DLC on September 26th, 2015, where the player could get him at Nintendo Zones in celebration of the Super Mario series' anniversary, and from October 6th, 2015, Nintendo distributed him through SpotPass.

Appearance

Louie is a brown ape who strongly resembles Donkey Kong, a character from the Super Mario series. In fact, his name and initial shirt, the Lil Bro's shirt, refer to Luigi, Mario's younger brother, which is changed to the Big Bro's shirt in Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer to reference Mario himself. He has a surprisingly feminine petal parasol on rainy days.

Louie has a jock personality, which means he will have a keen interest in sport and fitness, making him appear competitive and in some cases rude when talking to other villagers, usually criticizing their fitness. He will appear slow-witted and absent-minded when talking about deep, meaningful things. He will get along well with peppy villagers, but get confused by the choice of lifestyle followed by lazy villagers, who appear opposite to the jock personality. He may offend and upset snooty and cranky villagers.
