In CF, there are five different types of mushrooms, appearing throughout the month of November. During November, six mushrooms will spawn throughout the town each day, appearing as either Flat, Round, Skinny, or Elegant. One of those six mushrooms will be a piece of the Mushroom Series disguised as a mushroom. If the town has attained perfect status, several of the six picked mushrooms may re-appear as a rare mushroom, buried underground. Players may either sell or eat mushrooms they find (and will blush if they eat a rare or elegant mushroom).

In NL, mushrooms can be found near tree stumps. In addition to the five mushrooms found in short is the new Famous Mushroom, valued at 16,000 Bells. Once eaten, the famous mushroom will cause the player to temporarily grow in a fashion similar to Mario eating a Super Mushroom from the Mario series of video games. The Rare Mushroom may only be found buried underground near trees and tree stumps once a perfect town rating has been earned.

In NH, mushrooms can be found near hardwood and cedar trees during November in the Northern Hemisphere, and during May in the Southern Hemisphere. The Round, Skinny, and Flat Mushrooms can be used to craft items from the Mush Series. The aforementioned mushrooms, as well as Elegant Mushrooms can be found on the ground, while Rare Mushrooms can be found buried underground. A high island rating will increase the chances of Elegant Mushrooms and Rare Mushrooms appearing.

An island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons during fall with mushrooms growing by the trees.

Mushrooms are items that appear during autumn in the Animal Crossing series. There are a variety of mushrooms, each worth different amounts of Bells according to their rarity. In addition to being selling items, in Animal Crossing: City Folk and Animal Crossing: New Leaf they can reward the player with items from the Mushroom Series, and in Animal Crossing: New Horizons they can be used to craft items from the Mush Series.

Appearances

In Animal Crossing

A Mushroom on the ground in Animal Crossing.

In Doubutsu no Mori, Animal Crossing, and Doubutsu no Mori e+ there is only one type of mushroom, known simply as Mushroom. It is rare and can be found in the early morning from October 15 to 25, between 8 AM and 9 AM. At 8 AM, a Mushroom will spawn and remain for 15 minutes, after which it de-spawns and another Mushroom appears in another location. Each mushroom is worth 5,000 Bells. Despite appearing in Doubutsu no Mori, Mushrooms do not appear in the Japanese version of Animal Crossing.

In City Folk

In Animal Crossing: City Folk, there are five different types of mushrooms—Flat, Round, Skinny, Elegant, and Rare—appearing throughout the month of November. During November, six mushrooms spawn throughout the town each day. One of the six mushrooms will be a piece of the Mushroom Series disguised as a mushroom. Rare Mushrooms only appear if the town has attained perfect status, buried underground. Players may either sell or eat mushrooms they find.

In New Leaf

A player under the effect of a Famous Mushroom in New Leaf.

In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, mushrooms can be found near tree stumps during autumn. In addition to the five mushrooms found in City Folk is the new Famous Mushroom, valued at 16,000 Bells. Once eaten, the famous mushroom will cause the player to temporarily grow in a fashion similar to Mario eating a Super Mushroom from the Mario series of video games. Rare Mushrooms may only be found buried underground near trees and tree stumps once a perfect town rating has been earned.

In New Horizons

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, mushrooms can be found near hardwood and cedar trees during November in the Northern Hemisphere, and during May in the Southern Hemisphere. The Round, Skinny, and Flat Mushrooms can be used to craft items from the Mush Series. The aforementioned mushrooms, as well as Elegant Mushrooms can be found on the ground, while Rare Mushrooms can be found buried underground.

Five mushrooms will appear per day until a limit of 30 is reached, after which new ones will stop growing. They do not appear on mystery islands.

Spawn rates

The five mushroom types spawn at different rates, and the rates at which they spawn differ based on the island's rating. Below is a table comparing spawn percentages between mushrooms and island ratings.[1]
