The Mushrooming Season first appears in Doubutsu no Mori and Animal Crossing. It is also featured in Animal Crossing: City Folk and Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

Event

Doubutsu no Mori and Animal Crossing

Mushrooming Season as it appears in Animal Crossing

In Doubutsu no Mori and Animal Crossing, the Mushrooming Season occurs during October and lasts for several days. During the Mushrooming Season, four mushrooms can be found around town between 8:00 A.M. and 9:00 A.M.. These mushrooms can be sold to Tom Nook for a hefty price. Every fifteen minutes after 8:00 A.M., one mushroom disappears.

Oddly, Mushrooming season is removed in the Japanese version of Animal Crossing, despite being in Doubutsu no Mori, although it is re-added in e+.

Animal Crossing: City Folk

In Animal Crossing: City Folk, the Mushrooming Season occurs from November 1 - November 30. Six mushrooms are usually found at the base of trees each day. One of them will be a furniture piece which is part of the Mushroom Series. The different kinds of mushrooms can be sold to Tom Nook, which players can receive bells depending on the rarity of the mushroom. Rare mushrooms can only be found in a perfect town and are buried in the ground next to trees. They do not disappear when December begins.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf

The Mushrooming Season returns in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. It is nearly identical to the one in City Folk. However, only five mushrooms appear instead of six. The Famous Mushroom is added, which, when eaten, temporarily causes the player to grow bigger, as a reference to the Super Mario series. Mushrooms can be collected year-round on the tiles surrounding a patterned tree stump, created by the silver Axe.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

The Mushrooming Season once again returns in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, taking place in the last month of Autumn, regardless of hemisphere. Over the course of the event, mushroom-themed DIY can be acquired. The Famous Mushroom is no longer available.
