The Night of the Thirteenth Moon (十三夜の月 Jūsan'ya no tsuki?) is an event appearing only in Doubutsu no Mori and Doubutsu no Mori+ that occurs in October or November. The date of this event varies each year, as it occurs on the thirteenth day of the ninth lunar month.
The event is a moon viewing similar to the Harvest Moon Festival, which occurs on the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month. In international versions of Animal Crossing and subsequently Doubutsu no Mori e+, the event was effectively replaced by the Meteor Shower event held in August.

In Doubutsu no Mori
In Doubutsu no Mori, during the festival, the moon's reflection can be seen in the lake while villagers stand and watch.
In Doubutsu no Mori+
In Doubutsu no Mori+ (the Japanese version of Animal Crossing), the moon viewing remains the same, but Tortimer will also appear by the lake to give the player a Moon. In Animal Crossing, Moon item was moved to the Harvest Moon Festival and during the Meteor Shower, Tortimer gives the new Telescope.
