Octopuses are a species in the Animal Crossing series, appearing exclusively as villagers. They are the least common species of villagers in the series, as only four have been featured in the games. They are also the only species with characters not to be in the Chordata phylum. In Doubutsu no Mori, Doubutsu no Mori+ and Animal Crossing there is only a single male octopus, Octavian. A female octopus, Marina, is introduced as an islander in Doubutsu no Mori e+ and appears as a regular villager from Wild World onwards. Another male octopus, Zucker is introduced in New Leaf, and Inkwell is introduced in the Welcome amiibo update. Octopuses are one of the two species that appear as both sentient villagers and also as fish, the other being Frogs.
