Ordinances are features in Animal Crossing: New Leaf that allow the mayor to change an aspect of the town. There are four ordinances: Keep <Town> Beautiful, Early Bird, Night Owl, and Bell Boom. One of them can be enacted at Town Hall for free; an ordinance can be cancelled for free or switched to another for 20,000 Bells.

The ability to enact ordinances is acquired when the mayor receives the development permit.
