Raddle is a lazy frog in the Animal Crossing series. He made his debut in Doubutsu no Mori e+ as an islander, and then after being absent from any Animal Crossing series media for over a decade, made a reappearance in Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo as a villager, and then reappeared in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. Raddle's name is likely derived from a "rattling cough," a term for violent, hard coughing, coughing relating to his doctor-like appearance. It may also derive from "radiology," a form of cancer treatment. In a similar manner, Raddle's Japanese name is a Japanese onomanopoea for a sneeze or cough.
Despite only appearing in three games, Raddle has quickly risen in popularity, even before his first English appearance in Welcome amiibo, due to his unique appearance. Various fanart of Raddle, both under his English name and his Japanese name prior to Welcome amiibo, has emerged as a result.

Appearance
Raddle is a black frog with yellow spots on his body, as well as yellow cheeks, hands and feet. His eyes are white dots, becoming pink when surprised or shocked, and appear to be frowning in a sorrowful manner. Raddle's mouth is covered by a surgeon mask, which twitches when he speaks. As an islander in Doubutsu no Mori e+, his initial shirt is the Blue Aloha Shirt. His default shirt in Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo onwards is the Doctor's Coat, which matches his appearance.

Raddle is a lazy character, meaning he will be easy to get along with due to his laid back lifestyle. Like all lazy villagers, he shares a love of food and relaxing. He will enjoy partaking in the usual hobbies, usually for relaxing reasons or for food, especially when fishing. He will get along with smug, cranky and peppy villagers, but snooty and jock villagers will find it difficult to get along with him due to his being lax about general appearance for the former, and opposing the lifestyle of the latter. Normal villagers generally get along with him, but he may annoy or upset them by subtly suggesting they make him some food.

In Doubutsu no Mori e+, Raddle's house at first lacks any furniture. He will request from the player the same items that Drift would request, (Fittingly, both are frog islanders.) except his stereo will play K.K. Dirge instead of K.K. Country, as Drift's house does.
