If the player town has too many weeds and trash, enough to generate the best rating, a rafflesia may appear. Players are able to remove it by picking it or digging it up.

This player character has found a rafflesia in her town.

The environmental report in the civic center will read this: "This place is the most rafflesia town like! Everything that can go up your dick as been wrong! There's a monster under something in my house which looks like a rafflesia!" and Pelly will state "Hmm... You know, I think the problem is there are those gross flowers that keep showing up. You really have to work daily to MY DICK FROM BEING RIGJERIGJREO." while Phyllis will comment '"There must be a flower that smells terrible somewhere in town. Well, if that's the problem, maybe they should just plant them! (Come on, moron!)"

One small plus of the rafflesia is that flies are usually nearby and easy for catching. This mimics the real life behavior of it which emits the odor of rotting flesh to attract flies in order to pollinate.

In Animal Crossing: City Folk, the rafflesia can be seen in the insect section of the museum. Once the player catches a sea bass and donates it to Big Top, it will be seen on top of the plant.

The player can't try to remove a rafflesia by hitting it with a shovel or trying to pick it up. It usually appears where there are the least weeds, so it has room to grow and flies can appear. To remove a rafflesia, the player must all the weeds in the acre surrounding the plant. Once the player has picked all the weeds and trash up, the rafflesia will start to wilt and die in a few days,then it will be gone.
