The Automatic Bell Dispenser (ABD), also known as the Bellpoint, is a machine similar to an Automatic Teller Machine (ATM). The ABD allows the player to access the Bank of Nintendo, from which the mortgage can be paid to Tom Nook, withdraw and deposit Bells, or reissue a Shopping Card. 0.5% interest is given on the first of each month. The ABD is only featured in Animal Crossing: City Folk and Animal Crossing: New Leaf, with personal savings accounts handled at the Post Office desk in previous games.
Locations
City Folk
- An ABD is located in Town Hall below the Civic Center window.
- In the city, an ABD is located above the Marquee. This ABD machine is for the "main branch" of the bank located in the city, rather than the town's own branch, however there is no difference in function.
- A personal ABD furniture item is also obtainable by depositing 999,999,999 Bells into the bank account.
New Leaf
- An ABD is located in the Post Office, below the desk in the lower left corner of the room.
- Another ABD is located at the far right of the tour office on Tortimer Island. This machine is of limited use, as Bells are generally not used on the island.
- A personal ABD furniture item is also obtainable by depositing 100,000,000 Bells into the bank account.
Shopping Card
In City Folk, after 10,000 Bells have been deposited into the bank account, the bank will send a Shopping Card (which is also referred to simply as a card) in the mail. This card works in the same way as a debit card, allowing the player to spend money in his or her bank account without carrying the Bells around. A Golden Card can be obtained by becoming a VIP at the bank, when a total of 1,000,000 Bells has been deposited into the account. It works the same way as the regular shopping card.
Unlockable Items
After depositing a certain amount of bells into the bank account, the player will receive a letter in the mail with a present attached as a reward. Items obtained this way cannot be re-ordered in the catalog.
