The Glowing Spot is a patch of ground that appears in DnM, PG, , and NH. It shines with a ripple of golden light and appears in a random area of town once per day. The player can dig up the glowing area with a shovel, which will usually unearth 1,000 Bells, but there is a rare chance to dig up 10,000 or even 30,000 Bells.

Burying Bells in the glowing spot will plant a money tree sapling; this is the only way to grow money tree in games prior to short, and in short. The chance of the tree bearing Bells is slim, but increases with the amount that is buried. If the money tree successfully blooms it will bear three bags of Bells, each one containing the same amount as the amount of Bells the player had buried up to a maximum of 30,000 Bells.

In PG, shining spots appear daily in a random acre and normally contain 1,000 Bells. If the player has yellow fêng shui or money luck from Katrina, the spot can instead contain 10,000 or 30,000 Bells. If the player buries a bag of Bells in a shining spot, a money tree containing three times the amount buried (up to 90,000 Bells) may grow. Additionally, if the player buries a Shovel in a shining spot, it will grow into a tree containing the Golden Shovel.

In the original games, a Katrina fortune that increases luck with money can increase the chance of finding 30,000 Bells. Burying a second shovel in the glowing spot may result in a golden tree growing in that space, which will bear a Golden Shovel once it blooms. However, the glowing spot does not always appear in a space that will allow trees to grow, so care must be taken to ensure the spot is suitable before burying the shovel.

In short, a glowing spot that is left as an open hole will persist even if the game is closed and launched again that day. Once the player has planted their Bells, the resulting bell tree can be dug up and relocated somewhere more convenient.

The shining soil,[1] known as the shining spot in Animal Crossing,[2] is a patch of ground in the Animal Crossing series that appears daily in the player's town. When dug up, it reveals a bag of Bells. Bells can also be buried in shining soil for the chance of growing a money tree. Shining soil first appeared in Doubutsu no Mori, and after Doubutsu no Mori e+ it remained absent from the series until Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Appearances

In Animal Crossing

In Animal Crossing, shining spots appear daily in a random acre and normally contain 1,000 Bells.

In New Horizons

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, shining soil has been redesigned to be more subtle, and it appears in a random location on the player's island and contains 1,000 Bells. If the player buries Bells in a shining spot, there is a chance a money tree containing three times the amount (up to 90,000 Bells).
