Snow people are special visitors that can be created with two snowballs during the winter season. Each day, two snowballs appear randomly throughout town (usually in different locations). They have to be the correct size in order to build a snow person; the head should be roughly three quarters as big as the body to build a perfect one. Making the head larger than the body will yield a badly built snow person.

Snowballs grow when pushed on the snow and shrink when pushed over non-snowy terrain. Initially, snowballs are difficult to push, but once they get to a certain size they become more controllable. If a snowball falls off a ledge, contacts a wall or body of water, gets hit by a shovel or axe, or falls in a hole, then it will despawn. A new snowball appears after entering a building.

Appearances

Animal Crossing: City Folk and earlier

From December 25th to February 15th in Doubutsu no Mori e+ and earlier, December 10th to February 25th in Animal Crossing: Wild World and Animal Crossing: City Folk, players can create the snowman by pushing two snowballs together. The snowman will state if the job was perfect, good, average, or poor. The snowman's personality is determined by how it is made. For example, a poor job leads to the snowman's saying bad things about its life such as, "I just want to make one light shine before I melt away, oh woe is me." A perfect snowman rewards the played a snowman-themed item from the Snowman Series in the mail after the snowman melts. Additionally, the snowman also asks the player to build it a snow-lady. This has no effect on receiving furniture.

The snowman will remain a few days and shrinks each day in Animal Crossing: Wild World and Animal Crossing: City Folk until it disappears.

In Doubutsu no Mori, Animal Crossing and Doubutsu no Mori e+, a snowman that has been built can be destroyed by the player by walking or running into it for about two seconds. During that time, the snowman's head rolls around and the head rolls faster until the snowman breaks apart. The speed of its head rolling around indicates how much closer it is to being destroyed by the player. However, in Animal Crossing: Wild World and later, it was no longer possible to destroy a snowman (or snow person in Animal Crossing: New Leaf and later), since walking or running into it has no effect.

In Animal Crossing: City Folk, if a snowman is built anywhere on the pavement in front of the Town Gate, even out of the bus's path, the player will not be able to go to the city because the bus cannot stop.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Four different types of snow people can be built: from largest to smallest, they are Snowman, Snowboy, Snowmam, and Snowtyke. If built perfectly, they will shower the player with compliments and will offer special requests. If built slightly off, they may comment that the player has at least tried. If built badly, they will get mad for being made in that way, or for the Snowboy, will poke fun at it. Non-perfect snow people say different dialogue compared to their perfect forms.

Snowballs can be found anywhere in town from December 11 to February 25. Only one snow person may be built at a day, and thus up to four can be present in town Snowballs can fall into the sandy beach through a ramp, and getting them back on town will be difficult. If falling fast enough, they may hit a cliff and get destroyed.

Each day after a snow person is built, they will melt a bit around the body, until the fourth (and final) day is when the snow person's body is almost fully melted, and their head is almost on the ground. On the fifth day, the snow person disappears from the town, since the snow person has fully melted. Unlike previous games, they melt more realistically instead of just shrinking. Time traveling backwards will cause all snow persons in town to disappear.

The snow people that were made the last few days before the snow on the ground melts will still be present, but they will mention about how warm it is getting or say that they hope for the player to build them next winter.

Snow people don't appear in dreams. Also, they can be called using the megaphone, but they will not reply back, where the game will state that snow people can't reply.

Snowman

The Snowman, when perfectly built, will offer the player a Bingo Card if they have yet to have one, and will play Bingo with them. The Bingo Card will always remain in the player's pockets and cannot be dropped, sold, or stored, unless if it becomes an Expired Bingo Card when either time traveling backwards or by the time Winter ends. A player can only receive a Bingo Card by building a perfect Snowman and can only have one Bingo Card at a time.

The Bingo Card will be populated with numbers ranging from 1 to 50 inclusive, on a 5x5 grid. The center square is blank, and can be cleared. Winning Bingo requires a clear of any five squares in a row: horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.

Playing Bingo with a Snowman involves rolling his eyes for a number to pop out, and clearing that number on the Bingo Card. The Snowman's eyes turn into a number from 1 to 50. The number stays there until 6 AM, when the number resets and the player must roll his eyes again to receive a different number. This can be done while the Snowman has yet to completely melt and disappear.

A Snowman's in a different town can be used to clear a player's Bingo Card. Cooperative play will significantly reduce the amount of time it takes to score a Bingo.

When a Bingo is scored, the Bingo Card in the player's pockets will be replaced with one of the Winter sports series furniture as a prize.

Imperfect Snowmen don't provide numbers, but can be spoken to, unlike perfect ones who only talk about Bingo. A Snowman has the same voice as a cranky villager.

Snowmam

The Snowmam will ask the player to catch snowflakes with a net, and will offer a random piece of furniture from the Ice Series in exchange for a number of snowflakes. A perfect Snowmam will only need three, and a slightly off Snowmam will need five. Snowflakes cannot be stored, but can be released or sold for 500 Bells. The Snowmam's offer lasts until she has been fully melted. In addition, the offer extends to all visitors, meaning a player can visit a Snowmam from a different town and receive Ice Series furniture this way.

When the player has an insufficient number of snowflakes, the Snowmam may think that the player is giving them off for free, and the player may offer to do so. The Snowmam will be grateful, but nothing else will happen.

Badly built Snowmams will be mad at the player for forming them that way, but can be spoken to, unlike properly built ones who only talk about snowflakes. A Snowmam has the same voice as a snooty villager.

Snowboy

The Snowboy, when built perfectly, will mail the player a piece of furniture form the Snowman Series. The Snowboy acts similarly to the Snowman found in titles prior to New Leaf. A slightly off built Snowboy will comment that the player is so close to perfection, while a badly built one will poke fun at the player for being built that way; nonetheless, these two forms will have different dialogue than of the Snowboy. A Snowboy has the same voice as a lazy villager.

Snowtyke

The Snowtyke, when built perfectly, yearns to be reunited with the snow people family, and talking to the Snowtyke once a Snowman, Snowmam, and Snowboy are present in town will cause him to mail special furniture to the player. The other members of the family need not be perfect.

The piece of furniture can only be received once in the Snowtyke's lifetime, thus building the same snow person after its previous one has melted will yield no effect.

Imperfcect Snowtykes will be upset, but can be talked to, with varying dialogue. A perfect Snowtyke will only talk about being with their family. The Snowtyke has the same voice as a peppy villager.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

A Snowboy built perfectly will give out one Large Snowflake per day, as well as a Frozen themed DIY recipe. They cannot be obtained by visiting players.
