SpotPass is a feature found in the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. It is a wireless feature built into the system that allows the player to connect to a network to download content to the console, such as demos and bonus content for games.
SpotPass was used in Animal Crossing: New Leaf on the 3DS in order to download distributed items, similar to the distribution of items in Animal Crossing: City Folk on the Wii. Special homes belonging to members of the game's staff and other Nintendo employees were also distributed to the Happy Home Showcase.
