Stationary, sometimes referred to as paper, can be used to write letters to other residents in the town. Different stationary can be bought at Tom Nook's store, but if a previously unowned paper is given to the Player by means of a letter, it is automatically added to the catalog. This method of obtaining new stationary does not work in City Folk. All stationary costs 160 bells, with the exception of elegant paper, which costs 800 bells. In Wild World, there is a total of 63 stationary types, though a few are only attainable by receiving them in the mail and cannot be purchased, even from the catalog.
