Stationery is a valuable gameplay element in the Animal Crossing series; its primary function is for letter writing, and for receiving items, like presents, bells and flower seeds in the mail. It comes in packs of four, with a variety of different patterns and themes.

Stationery can be obtained in a number of ways:

• It can be purchased at Tom Nook's store
• Found at the dump or in the Police Station's 'Lost and Found' (Animal Crossing)
• Found in the Town Gate's 'Lost and Found' (Wild World and City Folk)

If the player receives a letter written on previously unencountered stationery, the stationery will be automatically added to the player's catalog. This also applies to stationery sent by or the HRA; although these types of stationery cannot be bought or written on, they will appear in the catalog.

Egyptian Paper	Tom Nook's	160 Bells	100px	Written on paper styled to look like ancient papyrus, the Egyptian paper has symbols running across the top of the page that are designed to look like Heirogylphs, and a reversed copy of the same pattern along the bottom. The lines on which the letter is written are form by one long snake symbol.

Forest Paper	Tom Nook's	160 Bells	100px	Forest Paper features a bright dusky glade, bordered with tree trunks and verdant greenery to the top and bottom. The image is set on dark blue paper. Light translucent boxes sit over the image in order to allow one to read the words over the pattern.
Formal Paper	Gracie	N/A	100px	An elegant yellow card with a red fuffled frame, this paper can only be obtained from Gracie after completing her fashion quiz. It contains style advice.
