Stationery, also referred to as paper (びんせん, binsen^?), is a gameplay element in the Animal Crossing series; its primary function is for letter writing, and for receiving items in the mail. It comes in packs of four, with a variety of different patterns and themes.

Stationery can be obtained in a number of ways:

• It can be purchased at Tom Nook's store, or in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, the Nookling Stores.
• It may be given to the player by villagers for completing requests (Animal Crossing only).
• Found at the dump or in the Police Station's 'Lost and Found' (Animal Crossing).
• Found in the Town Gate's 'Lost and Found' (Animal Crossing: Wild World and Animal Crossing: City Folk).

If the player receives a letter written on previously unencountered stationery, the stationery will be automatically added to the player's catalog in Animal Crossing: Wild World. This also applies to stationery sent by special characters or the HRA. Although these types of stationery cannot be bought or written on, they will appear in the catalog.

Bathtub Paper	Tom Nook's	160 Bells		A paper with a blue tiled border and a metal plughole in the upper-right corner, designed to evoke a bathroom floor. The centre of the paper is designed to look as though it is set into the tiles. Drops of water are also scattered across the sheet.

Birthday Cards	Tom Nook's	160 Bells		A white paper with pale green lines, bordered by a red ribbon on the upper right corner and a sprig of pink and yellow flowers in the bottom left corner. This paper is sent by villagers to the player a short while before their birthdays, in order to remind the player to come and visit them on the day.

Formal Paper	Gracie	N/A		An elegant yellow card with a red fuffled frame, this paper can only be obtained from Gracie after completing her fashion quiz. It contains style advice.
