Stationery, also referred to as paper (びんせん, binsen^?), is a gameplay element in the Animal Crossing series; its primary function is for letter writing, and for receiving items in the mail. It comes in packs of four, with a variety of different patterns and themes.

Stationery can be obtained in a number of ways:

• It can be purchased at store, or in New Leaf and New Horizons, the Nookling Stores.
• It may be given to the player by villagers for completing requests (Animal Crossing only).
• Found at the dump or in the Police Station's 'Lost and Found' (Animal Crossing}}).
• Found in the Town Gate's 'Lost and Found' (Wild World and City Folk).

If the player receives a letter written on previously unencountered stationery, the stationery will be automatically added to the player's catalog in Animal Crossing: Wild World. This also applies to stationery sent by special characters or the HRA. Although these types of stationery cannot be bought or written on, they will appear in the catalog.

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the mail system works differently, and stationery is no longer an item. Instead, the different cards stored on the card stand at the airport serve the same function and mail delivery costs 200 Bells, regardless of the design which is used in a letter. Consequently, any card designs used by a player do not appear in their catalog. Some stationery is only available to use for a limited time, often coinciding with the dates of in game events or seasons.

In Animal Crossing, letter papers and diaries can be purchased. Letter papers that is available for purchase at Tom Nook's are sold at  160 Bells per stack of four and can be ordered via Catalog. Tom Nook will buy them back for  10 Bells per piece. Diaries are similar to letters. They can be written in and also hold the calendar.

Cards sent from the card stand are not items and are not technically purchased; instead, there is a universal service fee of 200 Bells per sent card. No designs alter this price.

Graduation Card		A blue card showing thrown graduation caps at the bottom.
Red-Dragonflies Card		A pale colored card with green, purple and yellow stalks on the bottom and two dragonflies flying from the top right corner into the center of the card. Mom uses this card to deliver [[Item:Mom's Tea Cozy ({{{2}}})|Mom's Tea Cozy]] in October in the Northern Hemisphere or April in the Southern Hemisphere.
Camo Card		A card with the camo design. Villagers with cool style preference will like this one.

Shooting-Stars Card		A dark card showing the night sky with shooting stars. Mom uses this card to deliver [[Item:Mom's Pen Stand ({{{2}}})|Mom's Pen Stand]] in the Northern Hemisphere in August, or to deliver [[Item:Mom's Art ({{{2}}})|Mom's Art]] in the Southern Hemisphere in July.
Stationery-Goods Card		A card with a design that shows card on a table with pencil and eraser on the card. The card has been drawn on already.
Velvety Card		A red velvet card with golden decoration as the borders. Villagers with gorgeous style preference will like this one. The Farway Museum will also use this card to deliver the [[Item:Golden Net ({{{2}}})|Golden Net]] and [[Item:Golden Rod ({{{2}}})|Golden Rod]] for completing their respective Critterpedia entries.
Gears Card		A dark card with black and gray gears in the top right and bottom left corners.
Gift Card		A card wrapped with ribbon and with the iconic Animal Crossing leaf which is attributed to Tom Nook. This card is exclusive for delivering items to others via Nook Shopping; it cannot be obtained from Dodo Airlines and the price for the card depends on the bells spent on the item itself.

	A blue card that features the Dodo Airlines logo on the bottom-left corner. The Dodos use this card to deliver the player awards for passing a point threshold on the amount of trip they went with Dodo Airlines.
	A black card with pine trees on the bottom and a beetle on the corner. Flick uses this card in instances where he delivers the player a bug model or if he delivers the player a trophy for passing a point threshold in the Bug-Off.
	A white card with a gold border and a house stamp of the Happy Home Academy. The Happy Home Academy uses this card to give their evaluation of the player's house, or to give them gifts for either having items in their house or getting a house upgrade.
	A nearly identical card to the card used by Bank of Nook, Nook Shopping, and Tom Nook except in a different shade of green and the Ginkgo leaf in the center attributed to Redd. Redd uses this card to deliver the player art purchased from Jolly Redd's Treasure Trawler.
	A white card with a slightly crumbled paper texture, musical notes on the top and bottom of the card, and a guitar in the corner. K.K. Slider uses this card to deliver players his music in instances that the player has Party Play on or their pockets are full.
	A card with colorful fireworks above a city The card remains unused for unknown reasons.
	A card that features Mount Fuji and the Sun, both of whom are references to Japan. The card remains unused for unknown reasons.
