Summer is the time of year when it is warmest. In the Animal Crossing series, summer starts at June 1st and ends on August 31st. In the Southern Hemisphere in New Horizons, the season starts at December 1st and ends on February 28th/29th. In Animal Crossing, this is when the trees and grass are at their greenest.

Events

Fireflies flying during the summer nights.

Summer has many events that vary throughout the games.

First Saturday of every month (except Augsut) in Wild World or Fourth Sunday of every month (except August) in City Folk
Players can visit villager's homes and buy selected items of furniture. Likewise, villagers can visit the player's house and buy items from them, at a price set by the player.
Every Sunday in June
Chip the fishing ace will set up a stall in the Plaza, and will challenge the villagers of the town to catch the biggest fish (overall, or selected type of fish). The competition ends at 6:00 PM, whereupon the winner will receive a trophy. A notice will also be put up on the bulletin board announcing the winner.
Second Saturday of July (Northern Hemisphere) or Second Saturday of January (Southern Hemisphere)
C.J. will ask players to catch as many fishes as possible within a 3 minute time range, setting up a cooler where any fishes a player gets will be stored immediately. There's a fee of 500 Bells per run, but during online play the fee is waivered. The competition lasts from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, of which after a certain point threshold the players will receive a trophy in their mailbox. Players can also redeem points for "fish swag".
Third Saturday of June, July, August, and September
Nat (or Tortimer in Wild World), the bug expert, will set up a stall outside Town Hall and will challenge the player and other villagers to catch the most interesting insect in terms of color, luster, size and rarity using a point system. The competition ends at 6:00 PM, whereupon the winner will receive a gold trophy. A notice will be put up on the bulletin board.
Fourth Saturday of June, July, August, and September (Northern Hemisphere) or Third Saturday of November, December, January, and February (Southern Hemisphere)
Flick will ask players to catch as many bugs as possible within a 3 minute time range, setting up a bug cage where any bugs caught by a player will be stored immediately. There's a fee of 500 Bells per run, but during online play the fee is waivered. The competition lasts from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, of which after a certain point threshold the players will receive a trophy in their mailbox. Players can also redeem points for rewards relating to bug-related items.
Throughout summer
Animals may visit the player's town during the summer months to camp out for a while. If the player talks to them they may give out some Camping Gear. But, to earn it, they have to play a game.
June
Harvey will ask the player to take anniversary photos of Reese and Cyrus's wedding in Harv's Island. Players are rewarded with heart crystals which can be used to purchase wedding furniture from Cyrus.
June
Childrens across the world are celebrated during Children Day. Nook Shopping will offer a handmade crown and a handmade cape.
Third Sunday of June or the entire month of June in New Horizons
Fathers across the world are celebrated. In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, a letter from Dad will arrive in the mail, including a red carnation. In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Nook Shopping will allow the player to purchase a Thank-you-dad mug.
June 21st

June 21st or June 7th to July 6th (Northern Hemisphere) in New Horizons

Isabelle will be in the Event plaza, giving the player a pair of Ladder Shades. In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Nook Shopping will allow the player to purchase a Summer-solstice crown.
July 25th to August 31st
Speak to Tortimer to receive a special event card. Every morning, through the event, Copper will host the morning aerobics whereupon the player has their card stamped. Once it has been stamped 14 times, the player will receive a special aerobics radio, to perform the exercises in their own homes. (Copper needs to be spoken to after each event). If the player tilts the C stick on the GameCube controller in different directions while near the aerobics radio, they can actually do aerobics.
Every Sunday of August
The Sunday nights come alive in the town with a fireworks display. A sparkler can be obtained by talking to Tortimer. In New Leaf and New Horizons, Isabelle will give the player special items in the Plaza. Redd will also be there to sell special fortune cookies in New Leaf or raffles in {{NH|short|nolink} for items.
August 12 th
Watch the meteor shower and talk to Tortimer, who will give the player something for attending.
December 31st to January 1st
Starting at 5:00 AM on December 31st, Isabelle and Tom Nook will stand outside in the plaza with a large countdown clock, with Tom Nook handing out party poppers and Isabelle handing light sticks when talked to. Tom Nook will also sell either New Year's Hats or New Year's Silk Hats. The clock counts down the seconds till midnight and is adorned with the town's flag and flashing lights. In the final hour before the new year, villagers will talk about their past year, and the music will change several times, building in tension in the last minute with a beep for every second. After midnight, fireworks will go off in the sky and residents will wish the player a Happy New Years.

Weather

File:Early-SummerForecast.jpg
A bulletin announcing the arrival of warmer weather and the rainy season.

The weather in summer is mainly sunny with the possibility of rainfall towards the end of June/early July. The sunshine allows for the player to receive a tan when stood outside for long periods of time without holding an umbrella.

File:Mid-SummerForecast.jpg
A bulletin announcing the end of the rainy season and the beginning of the hot, sunny season.

During the end of June, heavy rainfall and thunderstorms will appear with lightning, creating sudden bursts of light on the ground. On the 1st of July, an announcement on the bulletin board will tell villagers and the player in town that the end of the heavy rain is approaching, making way for heavier sunny periods. Through the first part of July, it is muggy and rainy, much like the second half of June. In the second half of July, it is hot and dry. July is one of the hottest months in the summer. In August, it's usually humid and neighbors will complain about the "stickyness". It will sometimes rain, but when it does its usually around the end of the day or the afternoon. In July, neighbors will complain it is too hot. The trees and the grass will turn into a deeper or darker shade of green.
