The T. Rex (known as the Tyrannosaurus in Animal Crossing, the Tyrannosaurus rex in City Folk, and formatted as the T. rex in New Leaf) is a three-part fossil in the Animal Crossing series introduced in Doubutsu no Mori that has appeared in all subsequent games. It is the highest-scoring fossil (when complete) in terms of HHA points. The T. rex skull is also the highest-selling fossil in the series, selling for 6,000 Bells.

In New Leaf[edit]
After donating the final part of the fossil in New Leaf, its plaque in the museum will read:
"The famous tyrannosaur was one of the largest and strongest carnivores of its day. Though it could reach more than 30 feet in length, it was capable of speeds near 20 mph. Its hind claws were powerful, as were its razor-sharp teeth. This made the T. rex fearsome indeed."
The T. rex can be found in the first room of the fossil exhibit in the museum.

Real-world information[edit]
Tyrannosaurus rex, often abbreviated as T. rex, is one of the largest and most well-known carnivorous dinosaurs. It lived in western North America at the end of the Cretaceous, 68-66 million years ago. It could reach over 12 meters in length and weigh 8-14 metric tons. More than fifty specimens have been found, and some hypothesize that the genus Tarbosaurus from Asia may in fact be synonymous with Tyrannosaurus.
