Balloons seem to be more plentiful in New Horizons

I notice that I've had up to three balloons show up in the span of ten minutes. I don't think the every 4th minute of the ten minute cycle is true in this game. - unsigned comment from 67.237.60.153 (talkcontribs)

They appear to be more frequent during windy days, but they definitely do spawn on the four minute mark otherwise from my end. More investigation is required otherwise. - unsigned comment from 190.38.235.115 (talkcontribs)

Balloon Color Correlation

I do not believe there is a color correlation to which items drop (other than for Bunny Day of course). Popped a blue balloon and got a beach towel. Popped a yellow and got bells. Popped another yellow and got a rattan bed. - unsigned comment from 2601:644:4101:d680:558d:5211:1200:62a8 (talkcontribs)

I think you're right. I was just tidying up the info that was already there, but I've noticed it doesn't always hold true. I've noticed (for example) yellow balloons are more likely to contain bells than anything else, but it's not a certainty. I'll change that section for now, and we can investigate to see if there is some sort of chance associated with the colour of the balloon. --Shark HHD Icon.png Dorsal Axe (talk) 08:40, April 4, 2020 (EDT)
Initially I added this as I logged what appeared, there definitely seem to be different pools of items per balloon color, and the Bunny Day event confirms it! I still get bells more frequently from yellow balloons and I got the golden slingshot recipe from one as well. I'll be looking into delving into the code soon to check these pools. - unsigned comment from 190.38.235.115 (talkcontribs)
Just wanted to mention that for New Horizons, it's datamined that only blue balloons can drop crafting materials, and only yellow balloons can drop Bells. Other balloon colors will not drop materials or Bells. I manually recorded several hundred of my drops and can confirm this. HylianAngel (talk) 15:02, September 3, 2021 (EDT)

Move to Balloon?

Shall we move this to simply 'Balloon' now that this is the only balloon page? The balloon items that the player carries were merged into Handheld items. Drago (talk) Drago PC Villager Icon.png 13:36, August 8, 2020 (EDT)

I think so, especially since we have a wrong page notice on this page anyway. ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 21:20, August 8, 2020 (EDT)
This is now done. Drago (talk) Drago PC Villager Icon.png 13:14, August 10, 2020 (EDT)
And now, perhaps that should be undone as Balloon (item) is its own page again. With "Balloon" as a disambiguation page for Balloon (floating) and Balloon (item). Chubby Bub (talk) 05:16, July 22, 2021 (EDT)
Oppose Oppose - I think that floating balloons are more prominent throughout the Animal Crossing series, and especially in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, given the fact that they are the only source of season-exclusive DIYs. I would be open to hearing other viewpoints on this though. Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 01:00, July 23, 2021 (EDT)
Oppose Oppose per PanchamBro Sunmarsh. Drago (talk) Drago PC Villager Icon.png 04:32, July 23, 2021 (EDT)
(wdym "per PanchamBro" I didn't say anything...until now :P) Anyhow, I would Support Support a move to make balloon to be a disambiguous page if perhaps we can get a better name than "Balloon (floating)". -- PanchamBro (talkcontributions) 14:43, August 1, 2021 (EDT)
Derp, I meant Sunmarsh! :P Corrected! I can only think of "Floating balloon" and "Balloon present" for alternative names. Drago (talk) Drago PC Villager Icon.png 13:05, August 2, 2021 (EDT)

Balloon schedule in New Leaf

In the New Leaf section, it claims that balloons spawn at alternating sides of the town (West, East, West, East, etc.). However, from my observations, this is not accurate. Perhaps Welcome Amibo changed this, just as they changed the furniture to appear in balloons? I only have Welcome Amibo and would need to test on plain New Leaf. My observations show that the side the balloon spawns on is random, or at least not every other. CompuGenetics (talk) 23:23, December 29, 2021 (EST)
