Move[edit]

Seeing Platinum Lucario's request to move the page 'Forged Painting' to 'Forgery' with the reasoning that forgeries now include statues in New Leaf, I see no problem with it and I've gone ahead and moved the page. Cheers, ~SuperHamster Talk 03:04, December 28, 2013 (EST)

Perfect Painting[edit]

This page states that a perfect painting is always genuine, yet while playing Wild World I purchased a Perfect Painting that turned out to be forged. Can this be adjusted?

Looks like this painting is always genuine in NL, but not WW. --Albinopenguin (talk) 17:37, March 6, 2015 (EST)

That's true. In New Leaf, you can actually tell the difference between a real and a forged ones while in the previous ones, it's all up to chance. There might be emotion indicators, but it's not a guarantee. Mario Signature.png 14:45, March 7, 2015 (EST)

Spotting A Fake table[edit]

It needs sprucing up. The columns on "genuine" and "forgery" are badly formatted. The only reason I didn't do this myself is that I'm lazy it takes time to do. Mario Signature.png 14:47, March 7, 2015 (EST)

The tables were generated with categories for "genuine" and "forgery" but there was nothing in those columns. I added X's to the "Genuine" column for paintings that are always genuine because I assumed this is the direction the table creator was going in. I don't know how to create tables, but maybe it would be more useful to remove those columns entirely? Are they adding any additional info to the page? --Albinopenguin (talk) 14:53, March 7, 2015 (EST)
Perhaps, but I think the columns are intended to put pictures of real paintings and forged paintings side-by-side. If there are no images, then, yeah, we should remove the columns until images are placed. Or, we can put {{construction}}. Mario Signature.png 14:56, March 7, 2015 (EST)
I noticed that we have images on the wikipedia of the real artwork, but I didn't see any pictures of the items in the actual game. Maybe we can do an image request for shots of the in-game items? The genuine/authentic ones at the very least, and maybe the fakes if we are able to get images of them? Not sure if this would require a construction tag. --Albinopenguin (talk) 15:00, March 7, 2015 (EST)
We can also request a texture dump since that's probably the best way of getting the clearest pictures from the game. But so far, the only texture rips from New Leaf are the emotion icons and the item icons, so we might have to wait. This applies to paintings. As for statues, a good old-fashioned screenshot will do. Mario Signature.png 15:02, March 7, 2015 (EST)
I did find some screenshots of the correct paintings at least on individual item pages. If needed, thumbnails of these can be added to this table to have a set of thumbnails of the correct items. So far the only tables containing images for all paintings are thumbnails of the original artwork, not in-game screenshots. I can add the screenshots to this page is someone can do cleanup on it. (I am still learning how to do wiki formatting so my editing is a bit clunky). --Albinopenguin (talk) 15:21, March 7, 2015 (EST)
Don't worry, you'll learn as you go. We'll correct anything if it goes wrong. Mario Signature.png 15:48, March 7, 2015 (EST)
Added thumbnails for all genuine and forged paintings and statues that the site already had on file. We still need a number of images for paintings in New Leaf. --Albinopenguin (talk) 02:37, March 9, 2015 (EDT)
I added a picture of the Nice Painting. KorruptedFiles (talk) 21:12, July 3, 2015 (EDT)

Missing Forgery Data[edit]

On the page for forgery, It says there is no forgery available for the nice painting. However, I bought a Forged Nice painting. I haven't taken a picture yet, I will try to soon. By the way, this was on Animal Crossing: City Folk. --Lumpcatlabs (talk) 20:30, November 29, 2015 (EST)

Detectable differences is a game mechanic in New Leaf. In previous games, forged and legit paintings should be identical. Mario Signature.png 01:34, November 30, 2015 (EST)

Reply to: Scary painting[edit]

There is only one fake in New Horizons. The fave one is that his eyebrows are upside down and he looks funny. The real one looks angry. The fake one makes you think he is smiling. - unsigned comment from Cathy246 (talkcontribs)

There are multiple fake versions of artwork besides just the Scary Painting, you can view a list here. The Scary Painting is one of the "haunted" fakes pieces of art that has an additional change at night, that's when he smiles. HylianAngel (talk) 21:08, January 31, 2021 (EST)

Cite web error[edit]

I noticed when editing this page that some of the citations have 2 titles, some of these references should be re-investigated and the double title parameters should be fixed. HylianAngel (talk) 23:55, April 1, 2023 (EDT)
