Is his species official?

Closing discussion in favor of removing "pumpkin" as Jack's species, as well as deleting the Pumpkin (species) page. Consensus was reached that it is pure speculation that his species is a pumpkin. ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 17:34, February 28, 2021 (EST)

Has it ever been officially confirmed that Jack's species is a pumpkin? I don't recall any time that has been stated, plus the first sentence of the article states his species is unknown, contradicting what's stated in the infobox and Pumpkin (species) page. If this is unofficial, Pumpkin should be removed from his infobox and the species page should be deleted. ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 16:49, October 3, 2020 (EDT)

I've been wondering this myself. Not sure if it's ever explicitly stated anywhere, but I doubt it. I think the closest thing to a "confirmation" is the pumpkin icon on his e-card, but that's shaky at best. The pumpkin could be a helmet, he could be a spirit, who knows. I played Pocket Camp recently and learned some Jack lore from there.
Jack (at my campsite next to the RV): Bats and magic hats! A perfect and timeless match! If I'd known even a bat could be as dapper as that, I'd make a mad dash to their haberdasher! What? You think me encumbered by excess headgear? This pumpkin is no helmet. It is my HEAD! My head does not simply pop off, you know! I cannot swap it for another! Whence came this rumor?!
Cyd (camper helper, in the shopping area): Halloween's comin' up, which means Jack's sure to be comin's around again, rockin'. I've always wondered... What's he really look like? What's under that big ol' pumpkin of his?

Cyd: Ha! Really? Well, I guess you'd know better'n me. But now I've got all kinds of questions. Like, did he sprout from the ground like other pumpkins? And does that mean any pumpkin could... Oh no...

While that seems to confirm that the pumpkin is not a helmet/headgear (if we agree that Pocket Camp is 'canon'...), I don't think it's enough to go off of to confirm a particular species. His villager id is pkn though... which would imply his species is pumpkin? That said, unless there is ever a second 'pumpkin' character added to the series, having a species page with one member is not all that helpful anyway. I'm pretty  Neutral about it either way.
