How come Lloid is in the Alpacas category? Bones aF Villager Icon.png TDCbox.png TDCtalk.png 17:59, March 4, 2019 (EST)

Hah, wow, good eye! Looks like it was accidentally left in as part of Template:Gyroids. I've gone ahead and fixed this. ~SuperHamster Talk 18:18, March 4, 2019 (EST)

Gyroid was renamed Lloid[edit]

Closing discussion in favor of merge with Lloid due to the characters sharing the same Japanese name and their differing English names being their only major distinguishing factor. ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 15:07, September 5, 2020 (EDT)

Why am I the only one to realize that Gyroid from the original game was renamed to Lloid by the new localization team in City Folk? You can even verify it in the very first line:

"Lloid is a gyroid character first appearing in Animal Crossing: City Folk. Despite this, however, there was a Gyroid in Doubutsu no Mori, Animal Crossing and Doubutsu no Mori e+ that looked exactly the same as Lloid, and even share the same Japanese name (haniwa kun)."

In Japan where the game originated, Gyroid in front of your house was named haniwa-kun, and in City Folk which also was developed in Japan, the gyroid in the auction house had the exact same name of haniwa-kun meaning the Japanese developers say it's literally exactly the same thing. When doubutsu no mori was localized Gyroid didn't have a name yet, so it was named "Gyroid" by the team, but in City Folk it was renamed to Lloid by a different localization team (verified by the different names in the end credits). You don't need sources for the Japanese equivalent, because it's literally the exact same thing- it's haniwa-kun! His first appearance was Animal Crossing, and was renamed in City Folk, because doubutsu no mori and machi e ikouyo doubutsu no mori both have haniwa-kun for them! - unsigned comment from 2600:1702:3ae0:4760:f51b:e1b3:8b39:2906 (talkcontribs)

Nice catch! I would be in favor of merging Gyroid (outdoor) with Lloid. I'd be interested to hear other opinions, though. In the meantime, I added a merge request template to the Gyroid (outdoor) page. Sunmarshsignature.png (talk) 19:13, August 15, 2020 (EDT)
Hmm... This seems like a small thing, but if it's for accuracy's sake then I definitely Support Support! Bones aF Villager Icon.png TDCbox.png TDCtalk.png
I have to agree. The three squirrels who had their names changed don't get split into two pages each on this Wiki (unlike with a certain other Animal Crossing-focused Wiki), so there's no reason to have these two split. Support Support. TurtleCrossing (talk) 21:01, August 15, 2020 (EDT)
Support Support per the above. ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 21:29, August 15, 2020 (EDT)
Result: Per the above discussion, I've merged Gyroid (outdoor) with Lloid and redirected the former. ~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 15:07, September 5, 2020 (EDT)
