Personally I do not think this reference should be in this article, but I'd like to generate some discussion first to see if a decision can be reached - should the reference be in there or not? I'm gonna bump this again since it looks like it was discussed and removed multiple times, and I think I have more substantial evidence for her being a ''Sailor Moon'' reference (or maybe more specifically a ''Sailor V'' reference). If nothing else, this could be a trivia point rather than a substantial part of the body, but I believe it's worth noting.

#Mira is themed after the "moon rabbit" legend (her home is themed after a moon base, and her catchphrase has "moon" in it) and combines that with a superhero aesthetic. If either of these were standalone, I would be more willing to write it off as a coincidence, but there is only one "moon rabbit superhero", Sailor Moon. The protagonist of Sailor Moon is literally named "Tsukino Usagi" (moon rabbit) and is called "Bunny" or "Buns" in certain translations.
#Mira's color scheme more closely resembles the red, blue, and yellow color scheme of [https://i.imgur.com/hwFg8Hu.jpg Sailor V] (Sailor Venus's original superhero alterego) than the orange color scheme of Sailor Venus. The most striking resemblance comes from her red mask; it's the exact same shape and color. The "Zap Suit" in ''New Leaf'' also more closely resembles the classic ''Sailor V'' / ''Sailor Moon'' uniform.
#Mira's Japanese name, Mirako, is one character off from Sailor V / Sailor Venus's Japanese name, Minako. It was brought up earlier that one character in Japanese is a more substantial difference than one letter in English, but it's still only one character (ミラコ versus ミナコ). It's also noteworthy that the Italian translation appears to have picked up on this and named Mira "Martina", which is a diminutive form of "Marta", Sailor Venus's Italian dub name.

== Name origin ==

I've always wondered what her English name origin is. I looked up the given name Mira and found a bunch of origins along with my own idea.
* It could be taken from "miraculous", which would fit with her being a superhero (or at least, dressed as one). 
* In the romance languages, it means "wonder" or "wonderful", which would also fit the superhero theming.
* In South Slavic languages, it means "peace". Again, superheroes strive for peace.
* In Albanian, it means "goodness" or "kindness".
*  In Hebrew, it is a derivative of Miriam or the female equivalent of Meir, meaning light. Superheroes bring light, in a sense.
* It's also the name of a red giant star. Not sure what relevance it has to her though. (Maybe she's from space? [Though that might be a stretch.])
