Usage

{{nihongo|<english>|<kana or kanji>|<romaji>|<extra>}}

This template can be used to display Japanese words inline in article prose. For example, if a sentence mentions a Japanese word this template can be used to display the kana/kanji and romaji for that word.

This should not be used to display Japanese titles for subject names in lead sections; Template:Nihongo foot should be used for media with translated names that are originally titled in Japanese, and all other articles should only display this in the article's infobox or within Template:Foreignname in a "Names in other languages" section at the bottom of the article.

Only the first parameter is required, the remainder are optional.

• The first parameter is used to display the localized or translated English word, e.g. Animal Crossing
• The second parameter is used to display the kana or kanji for the Japanese word, e.g. どうぶつの森
• The third parameter is used to display the transliteration of the Japanese word, e.g. Dōbutsu no Mori
• The fourth parameter can be used to display a direct English translation of the Japanese word if it differs from a localized word, e.g. Animal Forest
