Timmy Nook and Tommy Nook (まめきち・つぶきち Mamekichi and Tsubukichi?), collectively known as the Nooklings (まめつぶ Mametsubu?), are twin apprentices of Tom Nook, the raccoon (tanuki in Japan and South Korea) who runs the town's store. Their full names are revealed in Animal Crossing: New Leaf to be Timothy and Thomas. In Animal Crossing, Animal Crossing: Wild World, and Animal Crossing: City Folk, they service the second floor of Nookington's. In New Leaf, they run their own establishment, the Nookling Stores. In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, they run Nook's Cranny. Timmy and Tommy serve the same function as Tom Nook in previous games—both can buy items the player is selling, show the player their personal catalog, and state how much turnips are selling for.

Timmy and Tommy attempt to speak in unison, but one always lags behind the other, causing one to repeat every last word the other says. In New Leaf, they instead make quiet remarks after speaking, as they rarely appear alongside each other. Both twins share resemblance to Tom Nook, even mimicking some of his phrases. Apparently, from some discussions with Tom Nook, the two can be distinguished by a mole on one of their hands, though even he is occasionally uncertain which is which. Timmy's voice is slightly higher-pitched and he is stated to be older than Tommy.

Despite their strong resemblance to him, the exact nature of their relationship with Tom Nook is unclear. The Animal Crossing e-Reader cards imply that the Nooklings are Tom's sons or nephews, but Nook states in Animal Crossing: Wild World that he has no relation to them, and that they are simply his employees. In later games, certain villagers mention that Tom Nook found the Nooklings as orphans and adopted them.

Their names appear to be simply derived from Tom Nook's. Their Japanese names come from mame, bean, and tsubu, grain, referring to their small size. Both also end with "-kichi," same as Tom Nook's Japanese name, Tanukichi.

Appearances

In Animal Crossing

Timmy and Tommy in Nookington's in Animal Crossing.

Timmy and Tommy make their first appearance in Doubutsu no Mori, and later in Animal Crossing and Doubutsu no Mori e+, where they run the upstairs room of the final upgrade of Tom Nook's store, Nookington's. Until the final upgrade, Tom Nook's store is run solely by Tom Nook, who only runs the first floor of Nookington's. Nookington's is unlocked by spending and/or selling at least 240,000 Bells worth of items and having a player from another town buy at least one item in the store. Timmy and Tommy sell 6 random pieces of furniture, 3 random carpets, 3 random wallpapers, and 5 random clothing items.

In Wild World and City Folk

In Animal Crossing: Wild World and Animal Crossing: City Folk, like in Animal Crossing, Timmy and Tommy appear on the second floor of Nookington's.

In New Leaf

Timmy and Tommy run the town's store, as Tom Nook now runs Nook's Homes. Only one of them will be in the store at a time (except T&T Emporium, where one works on each floor) because they work shifts. These shifts are different for each variation of the store. Similar to Tom Nook's Store in previous games, Timmy and Tommy's store will be remodeled and expanded after certain requirements are met. The remodeling order is as follows: Nookling Junction, T&T Mart, Super T&T, T.I.Y., and T&T Emporium.

In New Horizons

The Nooklings in the upgraded Nook's Cranny in New Horizons.

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Timmy and Tommy operate the Nook Inc. development venture along with Tom Nook. At the beginning of the game, Timmy will sell and buy items inside Resident Services while Tommy will wander the island and offer helpful advice when talked to. Later in the game, the player can assist them in building their shop, Nook's Cranny. Once doing so, both Timmy and Tommy will start working there.

When speaking to either Timmy or Tommy, the player can sell items and check current turnip prices. Since Timmy and Tommy can speak to players separately, up to two players can simultaneously buy or sell items.

In Pocket Camp

Timmy and Tommy appear in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, and run the Nookling Global pop-up shop, which is located in the Market Place. They sell furniture items that are not available through crafting, and three items are on sale at a time.

In Gekijōban Doubutsu no Mori

Timmy and Tommy have minor roles in 🎬 Gekijōban Doubutsu no Mori. They appear in two different booths at the Fireworks Show.

Timmy & Tommy

Description NTSC-U: These twin brothers operate the Nookling stores. Thanks to Tom Nook's teachings, they are just as talented as he is and run Nookling Junction with such success that it can expand several times. Despite their success, they never forget the core value of good customer service.

PAL: These twin brothers start off with the little shop Nookling Junction, but they seem to have learned a little something from Tom Nook, and it doesn't take long before the T&T Emporium is open for business! (So fancy.) But no matter how big and impressive their shops get, they've still got a lot to learn...
