Tortimer Island is a stage in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate based on the eponymous island from Animal Crossing: New Leaf. It was first revealed on March 7, 2014, in the Director's Room Miiverse community, as well as on the official website for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. The stage's appearance is randomized each match, which affects its layout and the inclusion of some features.
Tortimer Island consists of a single platform with a slightly raised grassy area in the middle and beach along the sides. In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, the water around the island cannot be swum in, with players simply falling through it, but it is swimmable in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. On one end of the island is a pier, often in disrepair, that has a grabbable edge. Kapp'n will occasionally dock his boat, which serves as a solid platform, at the pier for a small amount of time before disembarking.
