Game Card description
Choose 3 character cards to make up the ultimate tug of war team. Compete against a computer opponent or a friend. It's not all about strength though, try different combinations for the best team!

Tug of War is an Animal Crossing-e and Doubutsu no Mori+ Card-e e-Reader minigame played on the Game Boy Advance. The "A" version of the minigame is contained on the P09 Boy (5) Game Card, and the "B" version is on the P10 Boy (6) Game Card.

Gameplay

In Tug of War, the player must scan three Character Cards. The scanned characters then team up for a 30-second tug of war competition against against another team of three characters. If a team is pulled past the center line, the game ends and the other team wins; otherwise, the game ends after 30 seconds and the team that is farther from the center wins. The winner is predetermined based on the characters' combined stats.

There are three difficulty levels that determine the rival team's strength: "Weak", "Average", and "Strong". If the player's team wins, the game gives the player a password.

The North American versions of Tug of War feature a pseudo-multiplayer mode where the player scans the characters for both teams. No passwords are given in the multiplayer mode.

Rival team characters

The characters on the rival team are predetermined for each difficulty in each version of the game. Even if the player chooses one of these characters as their teammate, that character will still appear on the rival team:

A

• Weak — Drift, Roald, Purrl
• Average — Truffles, Carrie, Belle
• Strong — Grizzly, Paolo, Tiara

B

• Weak — Doc, June, Derwin
• Average — Spork, Chief, Boris
• Strong — Groucho, Hornsby, Alli

Passwords

Each version of Tug of War has three passwords: one for each difficulty level. If one of these passwords is sent in a letter to any villager, the player receives a letter in return from Tom Nook that contains an item.
